maui bookstore children's kids pop up

Still on the hunt for the perfect permanent location, Maui Children’s Bookstore + Cafe is teaming up with locally owned shops for one-day pop-up events this Spring and Summer.

Their first event is this Saturday, April 19 at Maui Thing in Wailuku. The event will take place from 10am – 1pm, with nature-themed story times at 10:30 and 11:30.  Children’s books, toys, snacks, Maui Thing apparel, and natural Easter baskets will be available for purchase.  The Easter baskets are $15 for the large kit or $12 for the small, and include a reusable natural wood farm basket (yellow or pink trim), 1 bag Wrappily paper eco-grass (recyclable and compostable), and a Wrappily embellishment (paper flower or pinwheel). Quantities are limited so contact MCB+C to reserve your basket.

Once they find their forever home, Maui Children’s Bookstore + Cafe plans to provide a unique experience that will delight the senses of children and their loved ones through books + art + food. They will carry a handpicked selection of new books including children’s literary classics and contemporary stories for babies to tweens. They aim to spark wonder and deep appreciation for the beauty of books, story and language.  Knowing young children are attracted to books via their lush illustrations, they plan to have an interactive Art Space, for their guests’ open canvas to express creativity in a fun and tactile way.

For their cafe, they will serve creative menu items that are catered to little mouths and hands but sophisticated enough for adults to enjoy as well. The cafe will feature food that is wholesome, nutritious and delicious, and they are committed to using ingredients that are local and organic when possible, with NO hormones, antibiotics, synthetic pesticides or refined sugars. Drink offerings will be local juices, organic milks, fine teas and local coffee.
